How to transfer your domain to Rackmarkt

Transferring a domain means moving it to another provider (registrar) without changing its name or owner. It is a routine, safe process: your website and email can keep working throughout the transfer.

Each extension has its own rules, but generally you only need to unlock the domain at your current provider and get the authorisation code. If you have any questions or cannot find your extension, contact us and we will help.

Transfer a domain step by step

This is how a transfer works for most extensions:

1. Unlock the domain

In your current provider's panel, remove the transfer lock.

2. Get the authorisation code

Ask your provider for the authorisation code (authcode or EPP code). It is also used for .es domains.

3. Start the transfer

Search for your domain with the search box on this page, choose "Transfer", enter the code and complete the order.

4. Confirm the request

Depending on the extension, you will receive an email to approve the transfer. Check the domain contact's inbox (and spam folder).

5. Done

When it finishes, the domain appears in your client area. If you keep the same DNS, nobody will notice the change.

This way you avoid the most common reasons a transfer is delayed:

The domain is not newly registered or transferred

Generic domains (.com, .net, .org…) cannot be transferred during the 60 days after registration, another transfer or a change of registrant.

The domain has not expired

If it is about to expire, renew it first or transfer it with time to spare.

You can access the contact email

Notices and confirmations go to the domain contact's email: check it is up to date and that you receive it.

Your DNS will keep working

If your website and email use your current provider's DNS, let us know and we will prepare them so there is no downtime.
