How to choose a good domain
A domain stays with you for years: these tips help you get it right first time.
- 1. Short and memorable
The shorter the better: it is typed without mistakes, remembered and looks good in your email (you@yourdomain.es).
- 2. Easy to spell
Avoid hyphens, numbers and letters that get confused when said aloud. If you have to explain it, think twice.
- 3. Your brand, not just keywords
A brand name is easier to protect and remember. Keywords in the domain are no longer decisive for ranking.
- 4. The right extension
If your audience is in Spain, .es is the best choice; for an international project, .com. See the comparison below.
- 5. Protect your name
Also register the main variants (.es and .com, for example) so nobody else uses them, and redirect them to your website.
- 6. Check the trademark
Before registering, make sure the name is not a trademark registered by another company to avoid legal problems.
