What is cPanel?
cPanel is a control panel for Linux servers. From your browser it lets you manage websites, email, domains, databases, DNS, SSL certificates and backups without typing a single command.
It works alongside WHM (WebHost Manager), the administrator panel used to create and manage the cPanel accounts for each customer or project. Thanks to its popularity it is the industry standard: documentation, tutorials and professionals who know it are everywhere.
At Rackmarkt we rely on cPanel: it is the panel on all our hosting plans, it comes included with the managed VPS and you can add it to your unmanaged VPS or dedicated server.

The software has two panels: cPanel, for whoever manages their websites, and WHM, for whoever administers the server.
cPanel, the panel for each hosting account
From cPanel you publish and manage your websites: files, WordPress and other CMS installs, mailboxes with autoresponders and filters, databases, domains and DNS zones.
All with a clear interface and resource usage metrics for your account.
WHM, the administrator panel
From WHM you create, migrate, suspend and delete cPanel accounts, define hosting packages and their limits, brand cPanel with your logo, and control server security and updates.
It is the tool agencies and resellers use to provide hosting to their customers.

cPanel pricing and alternatives
Since 2019 cPanel has priced its licenses by number of accounts, and prices have risen every year. That is why it pays to choose the license that matches the accounts you will actually use, and upgrade only when needed.
If you only host a few websites, hosting with cPanel included or a managed VPS with the license in the price may suit you better. And if you want a paid alternative licensed by domains, Plesk starts at €13/month.
